1 Peter 1 v 3-8

1 Peter 1 V 3 to 8

As I read this today I was drawn to verse 8. “For a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, so that the proof on your faith, being more precious than gold which perishes though tested by fire, maybe found to result in praise, glory and honour at the revelation of Jesus Christ”

Many of us are I am sure are going through trying times at the moment. Perhaps it is physical pain or an illness you are struggling with. Maybe it is emotional pain, or perhaps your faith is being tested.

You pray and spend time with Him, but heaven seems silent. Nothing seems to change. It may be days, weeks or even months that you have been going through this trial, this testing, and it can be so hard.

Why, God, why? Where are You? Am I really Yours? Where are You, Abba? So many thoughts and feelings go round and round in your head.

Sometimes, we experience these things because we live in a fallen world, where pain and suffering are part of life. God never promised that once we belonged to Him, we would be free from pain and suffering. But He has promised that He will never leave us or forsake us.

Sometimes, our faith is tested, and through these difficult seasons, God can grow and strengthen us in ways we may not understand at the time.

I was thinking about the trees. As they grow, their roots reach deep into the ground. The deeper and stronger their roots become, the better they are able to withstand the storms and strong winds that come their way.

It is the same with us. Storms will come into our lives from time to time, but as we remain rooted in Christ Jesus, continuing to pray, read His Word and spend time with Him, our roots can grow deeper. Even when we cannot see what God is doing, He can be working in us, strengthening our faith and deepening our relationship with our Heavenly Father.

So, although this season may be hard for you ask Him what He wants to teach you through His Word. Ask Him to help you hear His voice through the Holy Spirit. And as you wait, keep trusting Him, even when you cannot see the way forward.

You may not understand why you are walking through this season, and you may not have all the answers. But you are not alone and you never will be
