I have to admit that I have my favourite books in the Bible. I love Isaiah, Colossians, Ephesians, James, John to name a few. I think they become special to us because the words mean something to us and they have helped us in troubled times. They have spoken to us in the past about something special to us at the time.
Today I was led back to one of my fav passages in Colossians. “For this reason we also, since the day we heard about it have not ceased praying for you and asking that you maybe filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God, strengthened will all power according to His glorious might for the attaining of all perseverance and patience, joyously giving thank to the Father who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints of light”
I don’t know about you but I often pray this passage over my life. Most mornings in fact. Why? Because its full of things we need each day to live a life pleasing to God. Not to cease praying during the day bringing everything to Him and to ask for the things we need to live a life pleasing to our Father. We need His wisdom, we need to keep walking in a manner worthy of Him in so many ways and throughout the day. Some days are hard to get through , life gets hard and God seems silent but we need to keep persevering. To persevere in our faith and sharing Christ with those we meet. We need to give Him thanks and praise for all that He is and all that He has done to save us into His Kingdom. We need to bear fruit as well in our lives, to not miss the opportunities before us to share the Gospel, to share Jesus and so much more.
As you come to read His word, ask Him where to go , ask Him to guide you? Read it, maybe just a passage or maybe a chapter. What does He want to say to you through this passage ? What words or phrase stands out to you. Ask Him about it, spend time with Him and wait. He will speak your heart. Just spend that time with Him.
